Email to the Hill: Bad actors are exploiting fears over coronavirus
Posted March 05, 2020 by CUNA Advocacy

This afternoon, CUNA wrote to all 535 Congressional offices to highlight the importance of data security and privacy legislation.  Unfortunately, scammers are exploiting fears over the coronavirus and are targeting financial and personal data.  It's time for data security and privacy legislation!

Did you see this gripping report from NBC News on the ways that bad actors are exploiting fears over the coronavirus to target consumers' financial and personal data?

It’s time for Congress to pass a sweeping data security and privacy bill that preempts state laws and keeps all Americans’ digital identities secure.

While you are hard at work trying to keep your constituents safe from the coronavirus disease, scammers are working just as hard to steal your constituents' digital identities.

We look forward to continuing to work with your office on data security and privacy legislation that will keep Americans' digital identities secure.

Sincerely,
