The National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) hosted a luncheon in D.C. today to review the agenda for its 2016 Legislative Summit which will take place in Chicago, August 7 – 11.  Registration is expected to open on Monday, March 14.  Bill Pound, NCSL’s Executive Director, noted that there will be “deep dive” sessions in addition to the traditional standing committee sessions this year.  One of the deep dive sessions that we will be sure to monitor is on sales tax.  Bill also announced that there will be a new task force this year on cybersecurity, which we will also monitor.

The Legislative Summit is the nation’s largest gathering of state legislators.  It is the meeting where legislators and legislative staff come together to work on the nation's pressing issues, share experiences and influence federal policy. CUNA is a member of NCSL’s Communications, Financial Services and Interstate Commerce Committee and its Task Force on State and Local Taxation.
