Statewide TNC Bill Replaces Local Patchwork in Iowa
Posted May 10, 2016 by CUNA Advocacy

Yesterday, Iowa Governor Terry Branstad signed a transportation network company (TNC) insurance bill, H 2414, that preempts the patchwork of local ordinances that previously regulated TNCs in the Hawkeye State. The newly enacted measure includes protections for Iowa credit unions in their role as lienholders. These protections include requiring TNCs to notify drivers that they may not have the appropriate insurance coverage and requiring drivers with liens on their vehicles to notify their lienholders. The lienholder notification provision will allow credit unions to inform their TNC driver-members that they need to purchase the appropriate insurance for all phases of TNC activity.
