The Week Ahead in Washington - July 15, 2019

This week, the House will consider several resolutions disapproving of recent sales of military equipment to certain foreign nations.  In addition, the House will vote on H.R. 3494, the Damon Paul Nelson and Matthew Young Pollard Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020 as well as H.R. 582, the Raise the Wage Act.  Finally, the House will likely vote on measures to find the Attorney General and the Secretary of Commerce in contempt of Congress. 

The Senate will vote on a number of federal judiciary nominations as well as legislation aimed at replenishing the fund for 911 first responders. 



The Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee will hold a hearing:  "Examining Facebook’s Proposed Digital Currency and Data Privacy Considerations." 

The House Committee on Financial Services will hold a markup of:

•H.R. 3629, the Clarity in Credit Score Formation Act of 2019 (Lynch) 

•H.R. 3641, the Stronger Enforcement of Civil Penalties Act of 2019 (Porter) 

•H.R. 3701, To establish a statute of limitations for certain actions of the Securities and Exchange Commission, and for other purposes. (Gonzalez) 

•H.R. 3702, Reforming Disaster Recovery Act (Green) 

•H.R. ____, the Accurate Access to Credit Information Act (Gottheimer) 


The Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee Subcommittee on Economic Policy will hold a hearing:  "Economic Mobility: Is the American Dream in Crisis?"

The Senate Special Committee on Aging will hold a hearing: “Combating Robocall Fraud: Using Telecom Advances and Law Enforcement to Stop Scammers and Protect Seniors.”

The House Committee on Financial Services will hold a hearing: "Examining Facebook’s Proposed Cryptocurrency and Its Impact on Consumers, Investors, and the American Financial System." 


The Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee will hold a hearing:  "Export Control Reform Implementation: Outside Perspectives."
