The Week Ahead in Washington - June 24, 2019

ON THE HILL 

This week, the House will complete consideration of H.R. 3055, the Commerce, Justice, Science, Agriculture, Interior, Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Act of FY 2020.  In addition, the House will consider H.R. 3351, the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act of FY 2020 as well as H.R. 2722, the Securing America's Federal Elections Act.  Finally, H.R. 3401, the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations for Humanitarian Assistance and Security at the Southern Border Act may also be voted on.

The Senate is expected to consider S. 1790, the National Defense Authorization Act of 2019.  In addition, the Senate may vote on a bill to provide supplemental appropriations for the U.S. southern border. 


IN COMMITTEE 

Tuesday 

  • The House Energy and Commerce Committee Subcommittee on Communications and Technology will hold a markup of H.R. 3375, the "Stopping Bad Robocalls Act." 
  • The Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee will hold a hearing: "Should Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac be Designated as Systemically Important Financial Institutions?" 
  • The House Committee on Financial Services Subcommittee on Diversity and Inclusion will hold a hearing: “Diverse Asset Managers: Challenges, Solutions and Opportunities for Inclusion.” 
  • The House Committee on the Judiciary Subcommittee on Antitrust, Commercial, and Administrative Law will hold a hearing: “Oversight of Bankruptcy Law and Legislative Proposals.” 
  • The House Committee on Financial Services Task Force on Financial Technology will hold a hearing: “Overseeing the Fintech Revolution: Domestic and International Perspectives on Fintech Regulation.” 

Wednesday 

  • The House Financial Services Committee Task Force on Artificial Intelligence will hold a hearing: “Perspectives on Artificial Intelligence: Where We Are and the Next Frontier in Financial Services.” 
  • The House Financial Services Committee will hold a full committee markup: TBD 

Thursday 

  • The Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee will hold a hearing: "Oversight and Reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank of the United States."
