The Week Ahead in Washington - June 5, 2017

The House and Senate are both in session this week after their Memorial Day district work period.

ON THE FLOOR

The House is expected to consider H.R. 10, the Financial CHOICE Act.  The House will also vote on H.R. 2213, the Anti-Border Corruption Reauthorization Act of 2017.

The Senate is expected to proceed to S.Res.176, a resolution regarding the 50th Anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem.  In addition, the Senate will vote to confirm Courtney Elwood of Virginia, as General Counsel of the Central Intelligence Agency.  The Senate will also proceed to consideration of S.1094, the Department of Veterans Affairs Accountability Act.

IN COMMITTEE

TUESDAY

  • The Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee will hold a hearing on pending Administration nominees. 

WEDNESDAY 

  • The House Committee on the Budget will hold a hearing: The Economic and Fiscal Benefits of Pro-Growth Policies. 
  • The House Committee on Financial Services will hold a hearing: Flood Insurance Reform: A Taxpayer’s Perspective 
  • The Senate Finance Committee will hold a hearing on pending Administration nominees.

THURSDAY 

  • The Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee will hold a hearing: "Fostering Economic Growth: The Role of Financial Institutions in Local Communities."  Dallas Bergl, CEO of INOVA FCU and also a CUNA board member, will discuss how regulatory burdens are impacting his ability to best serve the financial needs of his members.
