The Week Ahead in Washington - September 18, 2017
Posted September 18, 2017 by CUNA Advocacy

The House is in recess this week but will return next week to advance its busy schedule.  The Senate will be in session today and recess on Wednesday.

The Senate will consider H.R.2810, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).  In addition, the Senate will vote on the nomination of Noel J. Francisco to be Solicitor General of the United States.

The Senate has scheduled only one hearing of interest to credit unions this week.  On Tuesday, the Senate Finance Committee will hold a hearing at 10 a.m. on "Business Tax Reform."  One of the witnesses will be Scott A. Hodge, President of the Tax Foundation.  He has long been a supporter of eliminating the federal income tax status for credit unions.  CUNA is preparing to rebut any comments he may make in this regard.
