CUNA Digital Marketing School is mainly geared toward an audience who might describe themselves as novice or intermediate digital marketers. While all learners are welcome to attend the optional pre-conference workshop, beginners, or those novice and intermediate users who want a refresh to be sure they're up to speed, should attend Sunday's session. If you're not sure where you fall on the knowledge spectrum, we recommend opting in for this pre-conference refresher so the rest of the week is a positive learning experience. Plus, even the most of advanced digital marketers might learn a new trick or two in this session!
There will be a three pre-work assignments provided to you at least four weeks in advance of the session. If you already have your Google Analytics and Facebook Business Manager accounts established, you will more than likely be able to forego two of the three assignments. The third assignment is a list of questions to research and consider. The answers do not need to be submitted in advance, but will help you better understand the pre-conference content.
Speaker: Andrea Parrish
Digital marketing is a broad topic that encompasses a lot of subtopics, which then have their own sub-subtopics. You've heard the acronyms and buzz words - SEO, SMM, SEM, PPC, marketing automation, video marketing … and that's just in the first ten minutes. And then there's all the platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Google My Business, and hundreds more. Before you jump into a week of learning about strategy, and what platforms to use, and how to collect data, and what metrics matter, let's start with this level-set session which will establish what the landscape of digital marketing encompasses.
Speaker: Patrick Trayes
Once we finish the overarching discussion of the various pieces that make up the digital marketing puzzle, we'll focus in on one of the most intense topics in that space - Google Analytics. Your website is rich with data that can be used to help you make smarter marketing decisions and understand user behavior. But none of that data is helpful if you don't understand how to use the tool that gathers and organizes it into actionable info. This basics session will help you gain access and navigate your Analytics account, implement tracking code and set up data filters, as well as introduce you to reports and dashboards. Later in the week, we'll pick back up where this session left off and dive deeper into Google Analytics and the other Google tools that work with it.
