Creating and maintaining a successful young professionals program for your state, chapter, or credit union isn't just an excuse for young people to get together and meet each other - it's a vital need for The Movement. Helping engage young leaders can be the tool needed to create robust succession plans, short and long term strategy, and engagement in the communities in which we serve. YP programs can help fill the professional development needs that young leaders are looking for.
In this session, you will learn how Wisconsin's YP Network started in 2008 with just a handful of YPs to what it is today - a group of more than 850 engaged future leaders in their credit unions. Through various programming, leadership opportunities, and connecting with system partners, Wisconsin has created a robust pathway to engaging future leaders. You will learn what has worked, what hasn't, and what the program has done to evolve with the desires of The Movement in Wisconsin.

Finding the right mentor that shares your desire to learn and succeed is invaluable to your career. The difficultly often lies in figuring out how to begin this important relationship. While there is no one formula that guarantees a successful mentorship, we will examine some real-world experiences on how to start this process and make it beneficial to both the mentor and mentee.
This session will be an open dialog to guide you on your way to a successful mentorship. We will discuss how you can prepare yourself through honest self-assessment prior to working with your mentor. We will then explore the different ways to find a mentor and how to ask them the right questions. Finally, we will present how you can make this a reciprocal relationship where both parties can continue to learn and grow together.
