Where we are located
Address: 403 C St NE, Washington, DC 20002
Credit Union House is strategically located in Washington, DC: a quick 5-minute
walk to the US Capitol campus. It is an equally convenient place for advocates and
the elected officials they meet. Credit union representatives have a short trip to Hill
offices; Members of Congress find Credit Union House an easy and enjoyable place
to meet with their constituents.
Who we are
Credit Union House is a tangible, brick-and-mortar example of the strength
and efficacy of the CUNA/League interdependent system. Leagues and AACUL
established Credit Union House, LLC and jointly own the Capitol Hill property. CUNA
does not have an ownership share, although it provides invaluable financial, staffing,
and management support. Credit unions individually support Credit Union House
through annual contributions and hosting events, which provide crucial funding for ongoing operations.
What we do
Credit Union House is a special events venue. It was originally envisioned as a
meeting and gathering place and has evolved into a credit union landmark in the
heart of our nation's capital. Each year, thousands of visitors are welcomed from the
credit union community, Members of Congress, as well as various other leaders and
The concept of Credit Union House took shape during a major legislative battle in
1998 and a resolution to increase credit unions' political involvement and advocacy
efforts at the national level. The Credit Union House cornerstone was laid in 2000 and
the property opened to the public in 2001.
In addition to being a strategic, convenient, and beautiful place to meet, Credit
Union House serves as an important tool in the CUNA/League system's advocacy
arsenal. Every single day, it is a reminder to our nation's leaders of the strength,
longevity, and the importance of our movement. Credit unions are committed to
advocacy at the highest level on behalf of their members.
Credit Union House is a true testament to the cooperative spirit of the credit union
movement. Leagues, CUNA, credit unions, system partners, and individuals all over
the country contributed to the establishment of Credit Union House.
Sustained annual giving from credit unions and individuals fuels the continued
success of Credit Union House. While initial investments from Leagues and AACUL
provided funding for the land and construction of the facility, ongoing operational
expenses are funded through sustained annual giving from individuals, credit unions
and system partners.
