Data Breaches

Equifax recently announced a major data breach which could impact approximately 143 million consumers -- including credit union members.

CUNA has been actively monitoring and thoroughly studying the breach and its implications and is collaborating with industry partners to keep you informed and provide resources.

Equifax Litigation Member Conference Call

On October 3, 2017 CUNA hosted a member-only conference call to discuss litigation against Equifax. The presentation detailed credit unions’ legal rights resulting from harm caused from the unauthorized access of Equifax’s computers systems that resulted in hackers stealing personal data belonging to 143 million consumers. Hackers also stole approximately 209,000 credit card numbers from Equifax. Credit unions’ rights include potential credit union participation in class action lawsuits that are resulting from the Equifax data breach.
Susan Parisi & Lance Noggle were joined by Attorney: Joseph P. Guglielmo from the New York firm Scott & Scott.
