Designed to create confident, strategic credit union leaders, this designation gives credit union board members the expertise and decision-making skills that are expected of them and allows them to earn our premier volunteer designation, Certified Credit Union Board Member (CCUB).

As an enrollee, you're empowered by choices. You decide whether to earn your designation in person at our face-to-face school or through self-study. Either way, you're connected to industry experts who will provide you with insights on your role as a credit union board member.

How to earn the CCUB designation

To become a Certified Credit Union Board Member, you may choose from three methods of training:

CUNA Credit Union Board Certification School
Board members who prefer the traditional setting will opt for these week-long training sessions. It includes knowledge and discussion sessions, culminating in five (5) certification exams.

Self-Directed Study
For board members who prefer to learn on their own, the self-directed option allows you to pick and choose learning activities.

There is no time limit for completing the CCUB designation. You must complete one activity annually for your enrollment to remain active. If there is no activity for one year, the enrollment is cancelled, and re-enrollment is required.

Recertification

CCUB designations must be renewed every 3 years by attending one of the following events:

All recertification must be earned within the 3-year recertification period which begins on the date of your most recent certification. Your recertification certificate will be mailed to you 6-8 weeks after attendance at a qualifying event.

FAQs

How do I view my transcript?

  1. Log in to CUNA Professional Development Online (CPD Online)
  2. New students, register under the New Student Registration. Returning students, log in using your username and password.
  3. In the Getting Started box on the left-hand side, select View My Training Transcript link 

If you prefer to see your course codes in your transcript, please select 'printable transcript' located above the transcript text in the right margin.

How long are the exams?

Examinations vary in length depending on the type of learning activity. All examinations are multiple choice and are graded on a pass/fail basis. They are also un-proctored and "open book."

How often do I need to recertify?

Your CCUB certification will need to be renewed every three years.

How long are the self-study courses?

Each course is approximately 60-80 minutes.
