Hear from industry experts on the compliance challenges facing credit unions, get up-to-speed on the regulatory changes that have taken place and have an opportunity to recertify for the Credit Union Compliance Expert (CUCE) designation.

To complete the eSchool, students attend five core (required) sessions. An extra perk included with this eSchool is the opportunity to view additional recorded sessions from the in person CUNA Regulatory Compliance Certification School. These will be marked as optional sessions.

Who should attend
This eSchool is beneficial for Credit Union Compliance Experts (CUCEs) who are looking to recertify and experienced compliance staff.

Recertify your designation
In order to recertify the Credit Union Compliance Expert (CUCE) designation, you must complete and receive a passing grade on the proctored exam. The designation is earned immediately upon successful completion of the exam and requires recertification every three years to ensure your knowledge regarding compliance issues is current.

Exam information 

  • Recertifying CUCE’s can take the CUCE Recertification proctored exam between August 5 and November 8, 2019.
  • CUCE Recertification exams can only be taken during this exam window. 
  • It is important to locate a proctor within your area and schedule the recertification exam in advance, please see deadline information below.
  • Please remember that it takes four weeks from when you request your exam and when you can actually take it.
  • Each time you re-test there is a fee of $50
  • If you need your exam in less than 4 weeks there is a rush fee of $100

Steps to Proctored Exam:

  1. Register for CUNA Regulatory Compliance Certification eSchool: Update.
  2. Locate a proctor in your area (proctor must be available during exam window). For more information on proctor guidelines, please click here.
  3. Schedule the recertification exam on a date within the exam window: August 5 – November 8, 2019
  4. Submit the Proctored Exam Request form on or before Friday October 4, 2019. *Please allow 4 weeks processing time *The last day to submit an exam request is October 4, 2019
  5. Attend CUNA’s Regulatory Compliance Certification eSchool: Update sessions
  6. Take the proctored recertification exam between August 5  – November 8, 2019

Core Sessions (required)
CUCE Recertification Study Session (recorded)

For those students looking to recertify their CUCE designation, this session is required. This is your opportunity to review the regulatory information you will be tested on. This session is also great for anyone interested in reviewing key regulatory changes that have taken place from 2016-2019.

Topics include:

  • Review regulatory information in the areas of lending, fair lending, deposit accounts and operations
  • Understand the information you need to know to be successful on the recertification exam

The Regulatory Front & What You Need to Know

Join this virtual session and hear what’s happening on the regulatory front in Washington D.C. The session will focus on recent and forthcoming regulatory changes from the NCUA, BCFP, and other agencies. This virtual session is designed to provide students with the most recent developments on regulatory matters.
Topics include:

  • Learn the background and up to the minute developments of pending regulations
  • Learn about recently effective regulatory changes not covered elsewhere in the eSchool
  • Identify regulatory areas of concern to credit unions
  • Gain a brief overview of how to get involved in the comment process for proposed regulatory changes

Consumer Lending Regulations Update

Join this virtual session to hear from CUNA Mutual Group as recently effective consumer lending regulation changes are provided and discussed.
Topics include:

  • Learn about the recent changes to consumer lending regulations
  • Take the opportunity to get clarification to your questions

Mortgage Lending Regulations Update

Join this virtual session to discuss recently effective mortgage lending regulation changes and what credit unions need to know.

Topics include:

  • Learn about recent changes to mortgage lending regulations
  • Take the opportunity to get clarification to your questions

Compliance Case Study

Students will have the opportunity to apply knowledge during this virtual session. The instructor will provide a compliance case study on a hot topic along with a list of questions attendees should come to the session ready to discuss.

Topics include:

  • Identify areas of concern for credit unions on the case study topic
  • Learn best practices and gain insights from the instructor on the case study topic
  • Elective Sessions (optional)

Optional sessions
In addition to the core required sessions, students have the option to select and view three recorded sessions from the CUNA Regulatory Compliance Certification School. The recordings are available from August 28-December 31, 2019. Instructions for choosing and gaining access to your selected sessions will be emailed to you on August 28, 2019.
