In addition, this module will equip financial counselors and other employees to recognize fraudulent activity and educate members for fraud prevention.

This course is part of the CUNA Financial Counseling Certification Program (FiCEP).

  • Recognize what money means to different people and how this information can assist in counseling
  • Identify the influences on our values and beliefs and why this information is important for counseling
  • Explore tactics for helping members increase savings by reducing spending
  • Examine ways to save for and finance a college education
  • Recognize how counseling can help couples overcome conflicts over money and work together to solve their financial problems
  • Recognize the special issues that arise when members go through separation or divorce and your role in counseling those members
  • Recognize the impact that addiction can have on member's personal and financial well-being and how a referral to an expert can help them overcome an addiction
