Developed to provide a comprehensive, applied understanding of business member services, this institute expands attendees' knowledge, and identifies next steps in boosting their credit union's business lending potential. Through expert-led sessions designed to address real-life business scenarios, case study analysis in teams, and on-site solution-building, attendees leave with the plans and knowhow to begin identifying opportunities and making improvements immediately.

"Attendees acquire business lending ideas upon which they'll want to take immediate action," said Kathy Smith, Instructional Design Manager, CUNA. "We leave them ready to apply their new insights, ask the big questions and inspire change the moment they arrive back at their credit unions."

This institute is presented in partnership with Executive Education, University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business and the Small Business Development Center.

CUNA Business Lending Certification Institute is offered in three parts:

  • Fundamentals - Year 1:   Attendees develop a solid foundation for their business awareness and leave with a sophisticated understanding of the components involved in business lending services.
  • Credit Analysis - Year 2:   Attendees gain an intimate understanding of the challenges business members face in making debt service payments and other financial responsibilities.
  • Advanced Credit Analysis - Year 3:   Advanced attendees receive practical, hands-on experience with credit analysis and return to their credit unions with the skills to serve even the most complex business member portfolio.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to officially establish themselves as unique authorities in business lending by earning their CUNA Credit Union Business Lending Professional (CUBLP) Designation , presented immediately upon completion of the institute's third-year content.
