CUNA Writes to the NTIA on “Developing the Administration's Approach to Consumer Privacy”

On November 9th, CUNA filed a comment letter with the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA or Administration) which is part of the U.S. Department of Commerce in response to the NTIA's request for comment on “Developing the Administration's Approach to Consumer Privacy.”  This comment letter highlights the importance of property data security practices and the need for data security requirements on merchants and others who use or maintain consumers' personal information. The letter also reminded the NTIA that credit unions and other financial institutions have a long history of safeguarding consumer information and are subject to numerous privacy and data security regulations and requirements.
