Tours

The following experiences, events, and tours are optional for GAC attendees and guests. You can select to attend when you register for the conference. 

Saturday, March 2, 2024, 5:30 p.m. – 10:30/11:00 p.m.

Price: $275 per adult 

Attend the world premiere musical, Private Jones, inspired by the true story of a deaf Welsh sniper in World War I. Before heading to the show, guests will experience an exclusive reception at the Westin Washington DC with food and drink. Following the reception, guests will be driven to the Signature Theatre, a Tony-Award®-winning regional theater Musical theater nestled in the vibrant village of Shirlington, approximately 10 minutes from downtown DC. With an innovative soundscape and sweeping original score, Private Jones is an unexpectedly funny and gripping musical adventure about service, friendship, and the cost of war.

  • Premium Signature Theatre Tickets to Private Jones (Run time is approximately 2 hours, including one 15-minute intermission.)

Special Considerations:

  • Adults only, please. 
  • The show has strong language, gunshot/explosive sounds, depictions of war and death, mild nudity and will use strobe lights and theatrical haze.
  • Tickets for this event are non-refundable.
  • There is no official dress code. Patrons usually dress in business casual attire. Be aware that the Theatre can be slightly chilly or warm. Dressing in layers and bringing a sweater is advised.

Note: 

  • The private dinner reception will begin at the Westin Washington DC Lobby Level. The Westin Washington DC (formerly the Renaissance Washington, DC Downtown) 999 9th St NW, Washington, DC.
  • The bus will depart from the Westin Washington DC North Lobby of the K Street NW Entrance at 7:00 pm. Please gather 15 minutes prior to departure. The bus will only depart and return to the Westin Washington DC. There will be no additional drop-off/pick-up stops for participants.
  • Space is limited.

 

Sunday, March 3, 2024, 9:45 a.m. - 1:45 p.m.

Price: $385 per adult  

Embark on a captivating journey through contemporary art and culture in Washington, DC. Begin your day with a walking historic food tour of the vibrant U Street neighborhood, known for its rich history and diverse culinary scene. Expect to hear stories behind local murals and learn about pivotal periods from Civil Rights to the Jazz era that have come to define the neighborhood and city’s heritage. The multiple stops you’ll make on this tour will be more than enough food for a robust brunch.

After satisfying your taste buds, you will make the next and final stop at the renowned Rubell Museum for a privately guided tour. Immerse yourself in the world of contemporary art as you discover thought-provoking exhibitions and innovative installations by both established and emerging artists.

This curated tour seamlessly weaves together culinary delights and artistic wonders. 

Giving Back: For each tour ticket, one resident in need will receive three full meals.

Monday, March 4, 2024, 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. 

Price: $396 per adult

This tour was created with Guests in mind. This tour may conflict with conference programming.  

This afternoon you will be in for a spirited delight from the colorful, modern design to the reborn spirts. You will arrive at a thriving distillery, Don Ciccio & Figli, located in Ivy City an approximate 25 minute drive. The distillery produces the finest range of sweet to bitter liqueurs, cordials and bottled cocktails sold nationwide. You will break into small groups upon arrival at the distillery. One group will enjoy a private guided tour of the distillery followed by a tasting of their liqueurs while the other group enjoys a private “make your own amaro” workshop lead by Francesco Amodeo. You will switch experiences before finishing the afternoon with a cocktail of your choice. It’s a modern America-Italian mash up! After your private distillery experience you will indulge in a private lunch experience at il Canale, where you can savor a delectable Italian lunch in an elegant atmosphere.

  • Exclusive make-your-own amaro lead by a third-generation liquor maker, Fancesco Amodeo

An exclusive Celebration of Female Artists: A Tour! Prepare to embark on a journey celebrating the extraordinary contributions of women artists throughout history. Your day begins with celebrating women at Chaia for lunch; a women-owned local restaurant known for its delicious and innovative plant-based tacos and more. Next, you will enjoy a private guided tour of the iconic and newly reopened National Museum of Women in the Arts, where you’ll discover an impressive collection spanning centuries and continents. From masterpieces to lesser-known gems, the museum showcases the diverse talents and narratives of the women artists. Continuing your day of exploring and celebrating the impact of Women in the Arts, you will venture to your last stop: the renowned National Portrait Gallery, where our expert guide will lead you through the remarkable works created by female artists from various periods and styles.
