Sandy Fritz-Gerke, MBA Sandy Fritz-Gerke, MBA

Senior Commercial Credit Analyst/Underwriter

Sandy is a strategic partner of DFTC, Inc., operating as a commercial lending underwriter and financial consultant. She has over 27 years of experience in the finance industry, with a focus on commercial lending and underwriting, risk assessment, policy and procedures, credit administration, and education/training. Much of her time was spent working at credit unions. Additional roles include serving as an Investment Advisor in the early 2000’s after passing the Series 7, Series 66, and LH&A licensure exams. Now, as a CEO of her own small business for the last five years, she prepares corporate and payroll taxes, financial statements, and aligns key goals with the business vision. She also has owned investment real estate for over 13 years, possessing first-hand knowledge and experience of the rental industry, common expenses, and tenant risks.  

Sandy holds a Master of Business Administration Degree (MBA) from Louisiana State University and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Finance. Sandy has held Board Chair and Secretary positions on several MBL committees, executive credit committees, and a scholarship fund. She loves to travel the world and her goal is to journey to a new destination at least once every year.

Steve Hazan, CCUE Steve Hazan, CCUE

SVP of Credit Administration

Steve Hazan has been in Commercial Banking since 1988. He is Senior Vice President for SECU’s Credit Administration area focusing on lending to consumers and businesses, loan underwriting and loan servicing.

A Maryland native, Mr. Hazan is a graduate of The University of Michigan and achieved his CPA designation in 1994. He holds a Graduate Certificate in Management from The University of Maryland. In 2004 he earned Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification for his work on Commercial Credit Cards. In 2018 he graduated with honors from the Certified Credit Union Executive program at The University of Wisconsin School of Business.

A speaker and panelist at industry conferences, he has written articles for and been profiled in American Banker, St. Louis Small Business Monthly, The Daily Record, The Baltimore Business Journal, Small Business Digest, Sales & Marketing Management and other publications. Steve has also trained and coached hundreds of bankers in business cash management, commercial credit underwriting, servicing and sales.

He currently serves on the board of Civic Works, a Baltimore, MD non-profit where he was named Volunteer of the Year in 2015. In 2020 he was named SECU’s Volunteer of the Year.

Joe is a senior executive and commercial lending industry expert with over 27 years’ experience encompassing commercial credit underwriting, credit training, loan origination, loan participation, public accounting, sales, and business operations and management focused on generating conservative, recurring and sustainable revenue growth. Joe’s previous roles include Chief Credit Officer, VP Business Services, and Senior Commercial Credit Analyst.   As CEO Joe enjoys leading, coaching, and directing credit policy, procedure, credit risk assessment and mitigation for 30 plus financial institution partners; SME developing and training commercial credit for the National Credit Union Administration, Credit Union National Association, and CUSO organizations; executive consultant counseling financial institutions regarding safety and soundness issues with commercial loan portfolios ranging from $5MM to over $1 Billion.

Ike McLaughlin Ike McLaughlin

Director of Credit Administration

Ike McLaughlin is the Director of Credit Administration with DFTC, Inc.  Ike is a Credit and Risk Management Executive with over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry previously working for KeyCorp and The Bank of Maine. He has an extensive commercial credit and lending background and has developed and implemented commercial loan origination systems, workflow processes, as well as loan and compliance policies. Ike has also worked as a tax analyst completing personal and business tax returns and has assisted small business owners in seeking commercial loan requests with Banks and Credit Unions.

Omar Shute Omar Shute

Omar Shute is the Senior Vice President of Commercial Services at Development Finance Training and Consulting Inc. (DFTC). In this role, he oversees commercial underwriting and participates on all the related suite of services offered by DFTC. Omar has close to 20 years of commercial lending experience and his career background encompasses commercial loan origination, relationship management, commercial loan underwriting, credit administration, commercial portfolio management, policy generation, and senior leadership experience including working with boards of directors.
