Action Alert: Engage Your Members of Congress on S. 2155
Posted May 02, 2018 by Chandler Schuette

Earlier today, CUNA's President and CEO issued an action alert to credit union advocates to make their voices heard on the bipartisan legislation - S. 2155, the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act. It is expected that this important piece of legislation will receive a vote on the House floor by the end of May.

The action alert reiterated that, "S.2155 is bipartisan, common-sense reform legislation that will protect seniors from elder abuse, make mortgage processing easier and quicker, increase affordable rental housing in our communities, and help credit unions provide better service to their members."

Last week, Chairman Hensarling said he would be willing to support S. 2155 in its current form. The desire for Hensarling to tack on additional regulatory relief has been quite the roadblock to passage, so his support is greatly appreciated. His endorsement for this bipartisan legislation came just a day after CUNA and ICBA wrote to House leadership urging floor time for S. 2155.
