Posted October 15, 2018 by CUNA Advocacy

Last week, Richard Gose, Chief Political Officer, and Jennifer Kelly, Director of State Affairs, attended the State Policy Network’s (SPN) annual conference in Salt Lake City, UT. For the first time, credit union advocates were on hand to explain the credit union difference to state policy leaders. The State Policy Network promotes state-based solutions and coalition efforts to help achieve a national impact.

The conference was attended by over 1,300 people including state-based coalitions and policy and professional specialists from across the nation.  The conference covered a wide range of issues including tax reform, how to simplify state tax codes, the state-federal divide, the state-impact of federal government actions on tax reform, the Wayfair Decision, states’ responses to Supreme Court decisions on tax and regulatory powers, cybersecurity, and response plans and action steps for online security breaches. CUNA was also involved in planning sessions with leaders on state policy and coalition outreach.

The conference highlighted a variety of achievement awards including Best Issue Campaigns and Most Influential Research.
