CUNA Provides Suggestions to NCUA on Exam Improvements
Posted August 01, 2016 by CUNA Advocacy

Today we filed a letter with NCUA detailing ways we believe the agency can improve the supervision of credit unions. This letter was in response to NCUA’s recent request for input through its Exam Flexibility Initiative.  Our letter suggests that NCUA should make several improvements immediately, including implementing the extended exam cycle and limiting the amount of onsite examiners.

The letter also pushes NCUA to improve its supervision process by extending the exam cycle and adopting new technology to simplify information collected through call reports. We will subsequently provide detailed comments to NCUA on how the agency can improve call reports themselves.

We will continue to study the supervision process and provide input to NCUA on an ongoing basis, just as we continue to dialogue with the agency on other exam challenges, such as exam appeals, exam consistency and the use of guidance.
