CUNA Weekly Advocacy Update and Video
Posted June 15,2015 by CUNA Advocacy

This week our Advocacy update and video focus on the House Appropriations Committee Markup of the FY2016 Financial Services and General Government Appropriations bill. We expect that the Committee will recognize the importance of codifying the credit union advisory council at the CFPB and creating a five person board to head the agency rather than just the single executive director the agency has now. We also expect language which would require the CFPB to work with other agencies to eliminate burdensome and duplicative regulations. Finally, we expect that the report will contain language on two important issues of overdraft protection and pay day lending. We expect that the guidance will be for the CFPB to protect consumers but also ensure that they have access to these important products.
