Posted June 28, 2017 by CUNA Advocacy

Chairman McWatters has been the Acting Chairman of the NCUA since the middle of January, but that changed on Tuesday when President Trump removed “Acting” from his title and named him Chairman of the NCUA Board.

CUNA congratulates the Chairman, and looks forward to working with him and Board Member Metsger to achieve the regulatory relief that allows America’s credit unions to better serve their 110 million members.

Last week, Chairman McWatters went before the Senate Banking Committee with fellow financial regulators where he outlined how the NCUA is participating in the Economic Growth and Regulatory Paperwork Reduction Act, recommendations that were included in the Treasury Department’s report that was recently released, and a few of NCUA’s current initiatives.

CUNA, the Leagues and credit unions anticipate working closely with NCUA on improving the efficiency of the agency while ensuring the credit union system remains healthy and strong.
