Director Cordray Tells CUNA GAC to “Wake Up and Smell the Coffee”
Posted February 25, 2016 by CUNA Advocacy
On Tuesday, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Richard Cordray shared with the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference his perspective regarding how the Bureau’s rules are impacting service to credit union members.

We promised the Bureau that we would go to great lengths to make sure that all CUNA members have full, complete and unedited access to his remarks so they can hear from him directly his view of credit unions' role in the marketplace, his understanding of the impact the new burdens are having on how they serve their members, the tone of his support for what they do for their members, and seriousness with which the Bureau plans to respond to their concerns in upcoming actions that impact how they serve their members.  We also let them know that we are committed to listening to our members' reactions to the speech and represent their views accordingly before the Bureau and Congress.

Please take a few minutes to view his speech, and let us know what you thought about what Director Cordray had to say.

Over the next week, we will explore different parts of the Director’s speech, outlining our perspective on the Bureau’s exemption authority and diving deeper into the impact of the Bureau’s rules on credit unions.
