Email to the Hill: Credit unions serve your community
Posted January 06, 2021 by CUNA Advocacy

Earlier this week, CUNA's Chief Advocacy Officer wrote to all members of the 117th Congress.  The email continued to remind Congress that America’s credit unions are committed to advancing the communities they serve and improving members’ financial well-being.

Good afternoon,

As people in all communities cope with the economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic, it’s important that they have access to local financial partners who put their financial well-being ahead of the bottom line.

As not-for-profit financial cooperatives, America’s credit unions have a vested interest in helping their member-owners — your constituents — remain stable in times like these. We continue to invest in our members through higher returns on savings, lower interest rates on loans, and fewer fees. Those investments account for nearly $19 billion in financial benefit each year.

With over 120 million members nationwide, America’s credit unions are committed to advancing the communities they serve and improving their members’ financial well-being.  I look forward to working with your office this year to strengthen this partnership in 2021.

Respectfully,
