FHFA Finalizes Uniform Mortgage Backed Security Rule
Posted March 01, 2019 by CUNA Advocacy

Yesterday, the FHFA released its final rule on the Uniform Mortgage-Backed Security—regulations meant to align Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Practices to address concerns about the ability of the single security initiative to launch this summer and its impact on the TBA market.  CUNA provided comments on the proposal earlier this year applauding the FHFA’s effort to address investor concerns surrounding the Uniform Mortgage-Backed Security before the security is launched in the To-Be-Announced Market on June 9, 2019.  In the letter, CUNA also emphasized the need for an orderly transition to a new system as part of housing finance reform efforts.
