House Passes CHOICE 2.0
Posted June 08, 2017 by CUNA Advocacy

The House has passed H.R. 10 – the Financial CHOICE Act by a partisan vote of 233-186.  Prior to today’s vote, CUNA sent a letter to House Leadership thanking them for considering the legislation and urging Members to vote in favor of passage.

The road to final passage has had many steps – the legislation was released, a hearing and a minority hearing were held, a two and a half day markup was completed, and finally today’s vote on the House Floor.  As mentioned in the past, this legislation is not perfect, but is the first step toward meaningful regulatory relief for credit unions and community financial institutions.

As the bill heads to the Senate, CUNA will remain active and committed in its work to produce legislation that ends the one-size-fits all regulatory climate. On behalf of America’s credit unions, CUNA will remain engaged to continue the momentum, to have the credit union voice heard, in order for credit unions to operate in a better environment in a growing economy that works for all consumers.
