The House of Representatives remains in recess until September 4, 2018. 

The Senate reconvenes today to consider H.R.6157, the Minibus Appropriations Act (Defense and Labor/HHS). 



The Senate Judiciary Committee Crime and Terrorism Subcommittee will hold a hearing: "Cyber Threats to Our Nation’s Critical Infrastructure." 

The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee will hold a hearing: “Energy Efficiency of Blockchain and Similar Technologies.” 

The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Subcommittee on Primary Health and Retirement Security will hold a hearing: “Financial Literacy: the Starting Point for a Secure Retirement.” 

The Senate Banking and Urban Affairs Committee will hold a hearing: “Russia Sanctions: Current Effectiveness and Potential for Next Steps.” 


The Senate Banking and Urban Affairs Committee will meet to consider the following nominations: 

  • Ms. Kathleen Laura Kraninger, of Ohio, to be Director, Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection;  
  • Ms. Kimberly A. Reed, of West Virginia, to be President of the Export-Import Bank;  
  • Mr. Elad L. Roisman, of Maine, to be a Member of the Securities and Exchange Commission;  
  • Mr. Michael R. Bright, of the District of Columbia, to be President of the Government National Mortgage Association;  
  • Ms. Rae Oliver, of Virginia, to be Inspector General, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; and  
  • Dr. Dino Falaschetti, of Montana, to be Director, Office of Financial Research, U.S. Department of the Treasury.
