The Week Ahead in Washington - July 22, 2019

ON THE FLOOR 

This week, the House of Representatives may vote on a possible deal to raise the budget caps and the debt limit.  In addition, the House has scheduled votes on H.R. 397, the Rehabilitation for Multiemployer Pensions Act; H.R. 2203, the Homeland Security Improvement Act; and H.R. 3375, the Stopping Bad Robocalls Act. 

The Senate is scheduled to consider the nominations of Mark Esper to be Secretary of Defense and Stephen Dickson to be Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration. 

IN COMMITTEE 

Tuesday 

The Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee: "Challenges for Cannabis and Banking: Outside Perspectives." 

Wednesday 

House Committee on Financial Services will hold a hearing: "The Next Megabank? Examining the Proposed Merger of SunTrust and BB&T." 

The Senate Finance Committee will hold a hearing to consider the nominations of The Honorable Brent James McIntosh, of Michigan, to be an Under Secretary of the Treasury, Brian Callanan, of New Jersey, to be General Counsel for the Department of the Treasury, Brian McGuire, of New York, to be a Deputy Under Secretary of the Treasury, and Travis Greaves, of the District of Columbia, to be a Judge of the United States Tax Court. 

Thursday 

The House Committee on Financial Services Task Force on Financial Technology will hold a hearing: "Examining the Use of Alternative Data in Underwriting and Credit Scoring to Expand Access to Credit."
