ON THE FLOOR

This week, the House will continue consideration of the Defense, Labor-HHS-Educations, State and Foreign Operations, Energy and Water, and Legislative Branch funding bill.  The House may also consider H.R. 3055, the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2020 [Commerce, Justice, Science, Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, Interior, Environment, Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Act, 2020]. 

The Senate may consider S. 1790, “The National Defense Authorization Act.”  The Senate is also expected to consider a number of judicial nominations.

 

IN COMMITTEE

Tuesday

  • The Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee will hold a hearing:  "The Reauthorization of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program."
  • The Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee will hold a markup to consider the nominations of: Thomas Peter Feddo, of Virginia, to be Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Investment Security, Ian Paul Steff, of Indiana, to be Assistant Secretary of Commerce and Director General of the United States and Foreign Commercial Service, Michelle Bowman, of Kansas, to be a Member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, Paul Shmotolokha, of Washington, to be First Vice President of the Export-Import Bank of the United States, and Allison Herren Lee, of Colorado, to be a Member of the Securities and Exchange Commission; to be immediately followed by a hearing to examine the reauthorization of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program.

Wednesday

  • The House Committee on Financial Services Subcommittee on National Security, International Development and Monetary Policy will hold a hearing: “Slowing Economic Growth: The Impact of Recent Trade and Tax Policies on the U.S. Economy.”
  • The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing: “Combating Kleptocracy: Beneficial Ownership, Money Laundering, and Other Reforms."
  • The House Committee on Small Business will hold a hearing: “Unlocked Potential? Small Businesses in the Cannabis Industry.”
  • The House Committee on Financial Services Subcommittee on Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship, and Capital Markets will hold a hearing: “Putting Investors First: Examining Proposals to Strengthen Enforcement Against Securities Law Violators.”
  • The House Committee on the Judiciary Subcommittee on Antitrust, Commercial, and Administrative Law will hold a hearing: “Oversight of Bankruptcy Law and Legislative Proposals.
  • The House Committee on Ways and Means Subcommittee on Oversight will hold a hearing: “Overview Of Section 512(a)(7):  Unrelated Business Taxable Income Increased By Disallowed Fringe Benefits.”

Thursday

  • The House Committee on Financial Services will hold a hearing: “Diversity in the Boardroom: Examining Proposals to Increase the Diversity of America's Boards.
  • The Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee will hold a hearing: "Outside Perspectives on the Collection of Beneficial Ownership Information.
  • The House Committee on Financial Services Subcommittee on Housing, Community Development, and Insurance will hold a hearing: “What's Your Home Worth? A Review of the Appraisal Industry.”
  • The House Committee on Foreign Affairs Subcommittee Oversight and Investigations will hold a hearing: “The State Department and USAID FY 2020 Operations Budget.”
