Paul Silva
Paul Silva is the Chief Risk Officer at Greenwood Credit Union in Warwick, Rhode Island. At Greenwood, Paul provides guidance to the credit union’s business units on establishment and revision of policies and procedures, organizational compliance and overall risk considerations. Paul is the credit union’s BSA/AML and OFAC officer and is the liaison with auditors, examiners and law enforcement. He was part of the team that developed the credit union’s marijuana banking program and provides guidance and oversight to the program’s operation.
Prior to joining Greenwood Credit Union in his current capacity, Paul was a compliance specialist with the Cooperative Credit Union Association supporting credit unions in Rhode Island with a focus on BSA/AML and OFAC compliance and training. Paul is a member of CUNA’ Compliance Education Advisory Board and CUNA’s Risk and Compliance Council engagement committee.
Paul received his undergraduate degree from Rhode Island College, a Master’s degree from the University of Rhode Island and an MBA from Bryant University. He is a contributor to the Portuguese American Leadership Council of the US’s “Tudo Portugues” podcast and serves on the board of the Chief Robert Dauphinais Memorial Foundation. When he’s not reviewing policies or performing risk assessments, he can be found at the gym, volunteering as his fire department’s rescue captain or trying unsuccessfully to stop his son Alex from climbing the furniture.
