NCUA Asks Credit Unions to Work with Borrowers affected by the Shutdown

Today, NCUA joined with four other federal financial regulators and the Conference of State Bank Supervisors to urge financial institutions to consider efforts to assist workers affected by the federal government shutdown. Noting that the shutdown has created a temporary hardship for many, NCUA along with the other regulators stressed that institutions consider prudent efforts to modify terms on existing loans and extend new credit. The statement comes as the current federal government shutdown reaches day 21–tying the longest ever. The press release is available here
