How to safelist emails from CUNA
Sometimes email systems decide that messages from cuna.org, cuna.com and cuna.coop (or other senders) might be spam or junk, even if you’ve opted in to receive those emails.
A process called safelisting usually solves the problem. Safelisting CUNA as an email sender will help ensure that you continue to receive the emails you’ve signed up for. There are two ways to accomplish this.
Server-Side Safelist
When an email message reaches your email server, the server likely applies rules and algorithms to decide whether or not to send that email to your specific inbox. Common email servers (like Microsoft Exchange and Office365) have options to specifically allow email from individual senders and even entire domains.
If messages from the cuna.org, cuna.coop and/or cuna.com domains aren’t reaching their recipients, ask your IT or email team to safelist those domains on your email server.
If your IT department has questions or needs help with this process, have them email us at hello@cuna.coop.
Client-Side Safelisting
After your email server has been configured to safelist the cuna.org, cuna.coop and cuna.com domains, you may also need to configure your specific email client (like Outlook) to allow our emails to reach you. Alternatively, if you use an email platform like Gmail, Apple Mail or Yahoo, you will need to set these programs to safelist CUNA emails.
Try this first: If you find an email in your spam folder that is not spam, take a moment to mark it as “not spam” or “not junk”. This automatically tells your email program to add the sender to your safelist.
If you continue to experience problems, follow the steps below for your specific email client.
- Go to Tools then to Environment.
- Go to Views, Make sure Default Read View is clicked on HTML, click ok, then close.
- Open your “Mail Summary”.
- Find the email you want to safelist and click on Always Allow all the way on the right side.
- In a few minutes your safelisted email will appear in GroupWise. That email address should get through the spam filter.
